When I was in Rome, this time I mean literally and metaphorically, I saw so many things. One of the thoughts that dawned on me was a dual agenda. I saw the Catholic Church as a whole (from the leadership perspective of power building) gathering together items and objects to reflect opulence, control, validation of position.
What I saw from a more pointed view was individual craftsman, artists, sculptors working to create a vision of what they wanted to do to honor God. To use their talents and abilities to tell a story. There were so many powerful statements/stories throughout. They honored God the best they knew how.
Let’s not forget that, the best they knew how. Oh, and what stories they told.
We are not OF Rome (see previous blog post) but we happen to be in Rome, oh and Paul found himself in the same place.
