The Introduction Matters
by Skip Moen, D. Phil.
I assume that you know what a diary is. No, not a dairy, that’s where you collect the milk. A diary, a place to pen, yet often hide, our inner thoughts, concerns, ideas, dreams.
David was a different King, he sang, danced, wrote poetry and music, ruled a nation. I’d be willing to bet he was fairly unique in history. How many rulers would also lay out their open diary, for all to read (or sing or listen to).
Psalms is more than a book, it’s a look into the diary of those who wrote it. Joy, sorrow, suffering, happiness, pain, anger, frustration, confession, redemption. Try reading it as a diary of the heart of a man who was called by God, one who seeks after my own heart.
