Notice I did not say Jesus, David, you… Funny thing how things can be missed, who said what first. Guess is might be a bit of an conundrum that since He inspired the words He gave David that they were His first but lets just stick to the text.
“Into your hand I commit my spirit”, David speaks/writes it, Jesus speaks it, the next obvious question is, I guess, can you? I love the common element, both are commiting themselves to the Father, it has always been about the Father. Guess that is what bothers me about songs that make it all about Jesus. Yeshua repeatedly said he only did the Fathers will, the Fathers work, spoke the Fathers word, committed his spirit to Him. David strove through his life to do the same, through all of his ups and downs.
Can we say the same, it’s all about the Father, without whom we would have no eternal access to without Jesus, and we can commit our spirit to Him, following in Jesus’ footsteps/example? Who do you commit to? You?
